FOUND DEAD.
Mr William Mirtic, who haa fol- ! lowed the occupation of a watchmaker, in Masterton, for some years past, wbb found dead early yesterday morning. The deceased occupied a room over Professor Williams' tobacconist shop in Queen Streot, and ha was found dead by Mr W. Dougall, who lives on the premise?, about 7 o'olook iu the morning, behind the door landing from the building to Queen Street. The police ware summoned to the scene, aud after viewing tba body they called in Dr. Cowie. The doo tor's opinion was that dea'h was due to alcoholic poisoning oombindd with asphyxia, It would appear that the deceased had entered the front door of the building during the night, and when he hai turned to close it, lell into the corner, and his head was bent under his body in such a manner as to oanse dea'b by suffocation. The late Mr Martin was a native of Glasgow, and was about 40 years of age. An inquest will be held today.
