BIDEFORD.

(From Oar Own Correspondent.)

Taasiay. A very severs frost was experienced heie last Sunday night and consequently most, of the vegetable gardens iu the open country suffered severely, potato crops in particular being badly damaged. A movement was started here a few weeks ago by a few of the more energetic young men to establish afclaoksmith shop and store here, but so far nothing further has been heard of the matter. I regret, to say that there is a oqnsiderable aajount of sickness .about notwithstanding the glorious weather we are favoored with. Influenza is particularly rife. There ia every prospect of a great fruit yield this season for the orchards around here look splendid.
