WELLINGTON, Nop. 22. In the Supreme Court, this morning, Mr Thomas Wardell, Managing ' Director of the New Zealand Times, applied for an injunction restraining the Directors of the Company from removing him from the office. Affidavits showed that a resolution was passed in August last, appointing plain tiff Managing Direotor for a year, but on 17th he was removed from the office in consequence of nlloged inexperience, and wbs ordered to give up the beys. 'lhie, the affidavits of defend aut snowed, he declined to do, and since the determination of tha directors was arrived at, he had been giving oiders without the authority of the Board and countermanding those given with the authority of the Board. It was also stated in the affidavits that, iti consequenoe of plaintiff s conduct of the business, the linotype operators were nn the point of striking. These affidavits were not replied to by plaintiff. A'ter argument by counsel judgment was reserved, the Chief Justice remarking that a Court ot Equity never interfered with the dismissal of a servant, who always had a right o& action for damages; but he desired to look into the plantifl's relation with tho Company, from the point of view whether he was a serivant in his capacity as managing direotor. George Thomas Boss, for forgery, was sentenced to three years' imprisonment. Joseph Reynolds, for assault, received eighteen months' imprisonment. William Sparrow, William Kay and John Davey were found guilty of theft, and were remanded for sentence. The Chief Justice saidj] that Sparrow was an habitual criminal. During the past 27 years he had fceeu sentenced to 25 years 1 imprisonment.
