The French popalaoe offered conin Brittany and elsewhere to the Government officials making inventories of church property. 'i Tbe residents heaped sulphur and tired it Inside tbe church at Pignan, necessitating the breaking of windows to expel the fumes. The men.then climbed on the roof, and tried to feed the flames with sulphur. The .women exeorated and obstructed tbe firemen, whose services bad to be sought. Tbe parish priest at Couronne lay aorossg the threshold of tbe outer / door of bis obarob until he was removed. No fatalities are reported.
