CRUELTY TO A HORSE.
WANGANUI, Nor. 19. At tbe Police Court, this morning, a young man named Carrutfaers was sentenced to four months" im« / prisunment for wilfully damaging a mare. The evidence showed that the accused, losing his temper, when trying- to make a jibbing animal pall a load, broke a shovel handle over its head and put a lighted fuss - under its bally. As a result the udder was destroyed and themare's legs and thighs roasted.
