The capture of the Boer freebooter Ferreira was effected by Sublnepeotor Adams, with fifteen mounted riflemen and a few residents of Upington. The scene of the arrest was Wifctesand, seventy-flve miles west of Kimberley., Ferreira iwaa unarmed at the time. An extraordinary marching feat was performed by the Cape Polioe and Cace Mounted Rifles <vho travelled 150 m*les over a waterless oountry in sixty-eight hours.
