MONTHLY MEG UNO, The monthly meeting of the Oocra-J of the Mast«ton Charrber of Commerce was Jtwld yesterday after- ' noon. There were present—Messrs i J. D. Oruicksharck (chairman), D. Donald, E. E. Chamberlain, T. G. Maaon, E. H, Waddingtou, d. B. Keith, W. B. Chennells, and B. J. Dolan. Apologies for absence wero received from Messrs P. W. Carey, J. C. Ewington, J. B. Moodie, K. T. Holoaes and H. 0. Robinson. Tho Treasurer reported a cr. balance of £lO 13s llu. The Feilding ChßtuboruotiQed that it had decided to support tho attitude telkeu np by the Masterton Chamber in regard to the railway tariff. The Secretary reported that Mr Ewington was gathering oertaiu inforiuutiun bearing on tho question of establishing brick works in Masterton, and would report at the next meeting. A letter wa<» received from the' Managing Director of tho Wellington Meat Export Cnmnany forward<iug k letter from Mr W. C. Buchanan to the Minister of Railways in which was set oat the groat injury done to sheep by the present methods of 'trucking. Mr Bnchauan stated that the braising of sheep could be easily done away with if the methods of trucking at present in -vogue in Australia and South America wer* adoped in New Zealand. *'l have a remedy,," said Mr Donald, "let us establish a freezing works in the Wairarapn." The Council decided to support - Mr Bnobanan m having the present state of affairs remedied. Mr W. H. Craickshauk was elected a member of the Chambor. Tbe quarterly meeting of tie Chamfer was afterwards hfild. The minutes were read and confirmed. As there was no business to transact, the meeting adjourned.
