COOPER'S BIOGRAPH COMPANY.
The Town Hall was well filled last evening, when Cooper's Biograph Company opaned a short season in Masterton. The pictures Bhown embraced a variety of subjects, and were suited to all taßtes. The films were decidedly dear, and as eaob picture was put on and taken off the canvas loud applause followed. The ohief interest was centred in the reproductions of Gounod's opera 'Faust," and indeed it. was a beautiful film. The lengthy film whs greatly enhanced ty the mag nifloent colouring. Another striking example of the art of colouring pictures was seen in the film entitled "The Magic Album.'' Under the influence of the conjuror the album Is increased greatly in size. The conjuror tears each leaf away, and crumples it up in his bands and throws it away, but bofore it touches the ground it is transferred into a beautifnl dancing woman. The pictare "Sherlock Holmes" was a good one, as was "Maori Life in Rotorua." Among the other films which call for special mention were "A Rebellion on a Russian Battleship," "The New Woman," "Life Among the Red Indians of America," "A Moonlight Dream." Miss Louie Fieh6r, who has a fine mezzo-soprano voice, was enoorod on eaob occasion she sang. She was also seen in company with Mr Hugh Wilson in the laughable sketch: "The Dude and the Opera Girl." Mr Wilson made an excellent "Dude," and sang two songs in good style. Miss ,W. Jones played the accompaniments to Miss Fisher's songs. The company will plve a matinee this afternoon. The doors will open at 2!o'olook, and the performance will commence at 3 o'olook. Children will be admitted to the downstairs portion of the house for 6d. It is probable that a sacred biorama entertainment will be given to-morrow evening in the Town Hall.
