CRICKET NOTES.

(By Cover Point.) The Carlton A and B teams commenced their Henderson Cup Oxtare, yesterday afternoon, on the Park. Carlton B won the toss,and Denby and Tyrrell went in first. With the score at 3, the Rev. Blamires qaaghl Denby off Iggulden in the outfield. Tryrell was joined by Morria, but at 7 Congdon bowled Morris. J. Wiokens, junr., and Tyrrell took the score to 14, when Tyrrell retired* after making 8 in good style. Aymes and J. Wiokens, junr., added two runs to the soore ; and then Darville caught the former off Congdon. Seven wickets were down for 17 when the Rev. Blamires and Dignan became associated. The aoore was taken to 35 before Congdon bowled the Rev. Blamires with a good ball. The retiring batsman had made 14 in capital style. His score included two fours. Roberts and Dignan oarried the score to 45. Then Hoar bowled Roberts who had made 4. Rioketts was the last batsman, but he retired with the score unaltered. Dignan carried out. his bat for a well oompiled 9. Congdon was in good form with the ball, and secured 5 wiukets for 19. Hoar bowl-d three balls and took 2 wickets for nil. Iggulden secured 2 wickets for 10. Swan and Hoar were the first players to represent the A's. With the score at 11, Hoar was bowled by the Rev. Blamires for 3. Swan and lggnlden oarried the aooie to 22, Iggulden being then run ont, after making 1. With »be score unaltered the Rev. Blamires bowled Hwan. The retiring batsman had scored 17 by pretty cricket. He mi.de some very nice leg strokee. Darville joined F. Welch, and the field spread out. Darville opened his account with a three. Welch played carefully, while Darville punished the bowling severely. When 58 was reached the Rev. Blamires bowled Darville,. who had made 24 by hard hitting. His score included three 3'e, a four, and a five, the latter hit off the Rev. Blamires. J.-O'Leary joined F. Welob, but the latter retired after one bad been added to the ncore, being eanght by Denby off the Rev. Blamirea. Welch had compiled 17 by carefnl cricket. Congdon, Waters, N. Boyd and O'Leary took the ecore to 84. Then E. Welch anii O'Leary became associated. O'Leary laid on the willow in fine style, and he was ably assisted by E. Weloh. The pair took the score to 136 before J. Wiokens, junr., caught O'Leary off the bowl ing of J. Wiokens, senr. O'Leary played a sterling innings. His suore included nine 3's, a four, a two, and twelve I's. E. Welch was not out with 19 to his credit, and batted well for his runs. The A team batted one man short. The Rev. Blamires was the oios 1 : successful bowler for the B's. His bowline analysis reads:—Overs 18, maidens 3, rnnß 33, wickets 5. He bowls a particularly fine break ball, and got Hoar with a ball that broke about a yard/ K. Weloh se-' cured 2 wickets for 18, and J. Wiokens, eenr, 1 for 7. The fielding of the B team was good. J. Wiokens, junr., brought off threa fine catches, Denby one, and J. Wiokens, senr,, one. Ihe B team went in for the second time, and at the caH of time had lost 4 wickes for 51. Denby made 27 by hard bitting', his score including five 3*s and two 2's. Tyrrell hit up 10 by careful cricket, Tyrrell and Denby added 36 runs to the score while they were at the wickets together. They carried the score from 7 to 43. Mr J. Wickens, senr., has been ohosen captain of the Carlton B team, and under his able guidance the team should give a good account of itself in the Cnp matches. The appointment is a popular one.
