Uy Telegraph—Preaa Aeaociation. WANGANUI, November 14 . Though rain fell during the night, the weather broke tine for the opening day of the Wanganui Show. There were splendid entries iu every 4}1a89. The horses were very good. 'The thoroughbreds, though not numerous, were of grand quality. There whs a fine lot of oattle especially in the fat classes, while the show ■t)f sheep was really magnificent. The Oorriedale sheep, specially adapted to rough country, attracted -iuuoh attention, being excellent both in regard to wool and muttoii. There was a large entry and strong competition in the do? classes, the :judges remarking that they were the finest lot that they bad ever seen. All the other classes were well 'represented. The home industries show a phenomenal increase, and the - exhibits in this section were greatly admired. ' In thoroughbreJ horses lan Dunoon's Conqueror secured -first prize and champion, and J. Nixon's Oscavale first in the thoroughbred mares. 0. Jefferson's Silver Scee secured first prize in ooaobing stallions. In cattle, G. P.' Moore's fiereford bull Ensign was "first and ohampion, and G. M. OurTie's Hereford cow first and champion. Mrs J. Donald and Son : sw«pt the board in Holsteins. In Ayrshires Mrs Caldwell' l ? bull was first and Donald and Son's bull took similar honours in the Jersey olass.
