LICENSING ELECTION EXPENSES.
OPINIONS OF LOCAL BODIES. Several replies were received from local bodies in the district at the meeting of the Masterton County Council, yesterday, in answer to the Council's inquiry whether they supported 'he action of tne (Joancil in protesting against the expenses of the last Licensing Committee elflotion. The Masterton Boroucb Council declined to join in protesting against the increasing cost of the Licensing Committee elections. The Mauriceville County Council supported the protest against the increasing cos 1 : of tbe eioctiors, bat was adverse to litigatoin. The Eketahuna Town Board and the Oastlepoint County Council has decided to support the action of the Masterton County Counci'. Tho Eketahuna County Council agreed witn the Masterton County Council's protest, but as no offioial objection was taken by the Master - ton Council, the Eketahuna Council was of tt:e opinion that the objection should be withdrawn. The Committee of the Masterton Couuty Council appointed to deal with the matter recommended that a strong protest bo again made with regard to the cost of the Licensing Oommi'tee elections. The Counoil adopted the recommendation.
