KING'S BIRTHDAY.
Heavy rain fell in Masterton yesterday morning, and in consequence all outdoor spuita were postponed. A large number of people journeyed from Masterton 'to the laratabiCarterton Club's races at Oiareville, The Stewards met earlier in the morning, and decided to postpone the races until to-day and Monday. A large number of people ' came from Wellington to attend the races'. •• ■ The Wellington Wednesday cricket representatives arrived in Masterton on 'lhursday evening, but they were unable to play the match against the Wairarapa representatives, yesterday, on aooount of the weather, and they returned home yesterday afternoon. The members of the Palmerston North Tennis Club arrived in Masterton, yesterday morning, to play a match against the Masterton Tennis Olub, but returned home by the midday train. It was alto on aooount of the weather that the bowling match between the Masterton and Lower Hott Clubs had to be abandoned.
