In the House of Lords the Earl of Jersey*s amendment, requiring that extended facilities should be granted whenever demanded by four-fifths of the parents, was car ried Icy 133 to 83. 'lhe Marquis of Ripon declared that this rendered the intentions of the clause nugatory. HOUSING PROBLEM Reoeived November 7, 9.36 p.m. LONDON, November 7. Replying to a deputation from the National Housing Reform Council, Sir Henry Campbell Bannermau and Mr John Burns, President of the Looal Government Board, promised to stimulate looal authorities to provide suitable accommodation for the working classes. The Government werej facilitating three private bills dealing with the housing problem.
