A TAMMANY COMPACT.
Received November 2, 8.4 a.m. NEW YORK, November 1. The New York Evening Post exposes a compaot between Wi ,R. Hearst and Murphy, the Tammany Boss, to give Tammany ten judgeships m the event of Hearst being elected Governor of New York States. The Post also prints court records showing that libel actions have been commenced against Hearst for damages aggregating a million pounds. (Mr Hearst is proprietor oi a number of newspapers, chiefly of the "yellow" type, in many of the large American cities. He was an unsuccessful candidate for the Mayoralty of New YorU last year on the municipal ownership ticket, and. has been mentioned as a likely i)emooratic candidate for the Presidency).
