DEARER GOLD.
The price of gold has gone up, and your sovereign is now worth rather more than JEI Os. OM. in the open market. Sovereigns are made of 22 carat or " standard " gold, and, taking a sovereign as worth just 20s, the intrinsic value of ''standard" gold is £3 17s 10£ d per ounceYet gold or this quantity is now selling in the open market at £3 18s Id per ounce; indeed, it has been as high a& M 18s 2d. / Taking the lower figure, it would be possible for the man who collected 100,000 sovereigns to sell them as " standard " gold and make £2BO 4s 4d on the transaction. Of course, they must be full-woight coins, fresh from the Mint.
