Temporary railway trucks and trains through streeis have been found the most available method of removing debris, and nearly one hundred and fifty oars a day are now going out. Debris is dumped in the bay in certain localities, indicated ty permits from the Secretary of War. Re-building conditions are still difficult and many property-owners are waiting for more settled conditions before beginning thejworlc of putting ud permanent structures. Materials are high, particularly lumber. Labour is still commanding high prioes, though many mechanics have come to the city from other points.
