MASTERTON RACING CLUB.

SPRING MEETING. The Masterton Racing Club's Spring Meeting was brought to a conclusion yesterday. The weather waa again fine, aud the course was in splendid order. There was a large attendance of the public. The sum of £5,729 was put tbrongh the totalisator, na against £4,656 for the corresponding day last; year. The amount invested on the maotiine for tbe meeting was £12,246, as compared with £9,802 for the Spring Meeting lost year. A Btring band, under Mr tieibana Bcyes, rendered a programme of music on the lawn on each day of the meeting. Mr Thos. Duncan had all the arrange ments for the mooting complete, and he was ably assisted by the Stewards and Mr W. Gillespie. Along the back of the course Roseal went to the front with La Torpedo and Rifiemaid oloso behind him. JRoseal still bad a slight advantage at the willows with tbe rest of the field bunched. At the distance Submarine movel up into second position, but he was never able to catch Hoseal, who, going well, won by half a length .after a good race. He, however, gave way to Lebecoio at the four furlong post. L«hecoio led the field to the turn for the straight, with Viotoria Park, Sen Sim and Devonia close behind him in that order. Gold Guard was prominent for a while at the top of the straight, but in the race home she was beaten by St. Brandon and Devonia, who came ffist together, St, Brandon finishing first with half a length to spare.
