OPAKI RIFLE CLUB.

The first three of'the series of ■eight trophy competitions to be fired by the Opaki Rifle Club during the present season have been concluded. Member* who have not yet completed their shooting will do so on November 15tb. The committee of the club have now decided that the second series of trophy shooting competitions will commence on November Ist, and will be uortinued on November 29th and December 13tb. On November Ist seven sho»:s will be fired at the 200 yards, 500 yards and 600 yards ranges; on November 29th seven shots at the 500 yards, 600 yards and 700 yards ranges, and on Deoember 13th ten shots at the 600 yards and 700 yards ranges. The two final "shoots" of the season to be fired on a date yet to be fixed will be seven shnts at the 500 yards, 600 yards and 700 yds ranges, and fifteen shots at the 700 yards range. Captain Welch's Cap, valued at £5 5s for the best aggregate in the "A" class, to be wou twice in succession or three times at intervals will also be fired for this season. The cup was won fcy Mr Jas. MoKenzie in 1904, and Mr W. J. Henry in 1905. Captain Welch has also donated another trophy,valued at £3 3s, for the best aggrogate in the "B" olass, to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals. This trophy will be fired for this season. Mr H. Williams' rose bowl for the highest scorer in the two competitions at 200 yards, 500 yards and 600 yards, and in the competition of fifteen ■shotß at 700 yards will also be fired for this season. A number of otner valuable trophies have yet to bo alloted for this seasjn'e shooting.
