NEW ZEALAND BOWLERS.
MATCH AGAINST NEW SOUTH WALES. By Telegraph—<Press Association. Received October 20, 8.42 p.m. UHATSWOOD, oofcober2o. A .large attendance witnessed the inter-State bowling match between New South Wales aud New Zealand. The weather was splendid, and the green in fine condition. The wisdom of playing a seven-aside rink jpatoh was borne out by the result. The play of the New Zealanders generally wai of a very high order, and the local opinion of McLaren's play auclaimed him as the finest player on the green. The following* were the scores: -No. 1 fink: Reid Osmond, Smith, and Payne, 37; ftogue, Norris, McPhersou and tlale, 17. No. 2 rink:, Dee, Basttings, Gardiner, and Sneddon, 16: Blandell, Johnson, Gartrell and Fitzgernld, 34. No. 3 rink: Scott, Manning, Gillies, and Wheeler, 16; Leaob, Walker, Crane, and Howe, 27. Received Ootober 21, 4.55 p.m. SYDNEY, Ootober 21. Tbe looal men played somewhat nervously, with the exception, perhaps, of No. 3, where they got a heavy lead on Wheeler's team. With a lot of ill-luck, the latter seemed hopelessly beaten, but, settling down to an up-hill task, they made what was really a serviceable recovery, although at the finish the soore showed thsm eleven down. On the eighteenth bead they -were sixteen down. Sneddon's rink was again "unfortunate, but managed to keep just ahead to the eleventh head, when their opponents drew level. From that out they left them, the visitors finishing eighteen down. On No. 6 there was a great tussle, New Zealand having the worst of it till the twelfth head, when they crept up, and were two up on the twenty-second head, but dropped the advantage with three points extra on the concluding ends. Bouskill's team, on No. 5 rink, made a olose finish, being one up, the looal men coming on strongly from the eighteenth tead. \\ r addell, on No. 7, held his opponents with ease right through. The New Zealauders were cordially congratulated on their victory. They played with great keenness throughout. The Sunday Times says tbat AloLaren worked like a wizard, and directed his men splendidly. Do what be would Ourrie could never be sure of beating the Maorilauders as long as thej latter had a bowl to send along. There were times when it was difficult to say whether McLaren or his third man (Buchanan) did the- better work. Payne, on his rink, was only inferior to McLaren.
