FIRE IN A CHURCH.
Received October 21, 4.4 J. p.m. LONDON, October 20. A fire broke oat in the North Transept of Selby Abbey Church. A great deal of damage was daw. The roof aud iuterual including new reredos, were destroyed.
A TOTAL RUIN.
DAMAGE ESTIMATED AT£SO,OOO. Received October 22, 12.15 a.m. LONDON, October 21, belby Abbey is a total ruio. The fire is attributed to the carelessness of men who were employed in repairing the/organ. The damage is estimated at £50,000, bat is irreparable, since the abbey was one of the finest examples of Norman architecture.
