The North Otago Titnea says that a force of detectives and constables, together with some thirty residents of Papakaio and the Waitaki Plain, gathered at Mr !Tomlinson's section on the Steward Settlement ou Sunday to search for tbe articles taken from thi house of the late Mr Hennie on the night of the murder. The banks uf the river for two or three miles each way were thoroughly searohed by four different parties, while two other parties with tho aid of grapp ling irons, dragged portions of tbe Waitaki River. No trace of the lost property was found, though the search was persevered in for some hourß. The gathering waa made qnite a picnic by some, and a few ladies were also present. SI'BATSS AND 11HUISE.
