Emir beat Benbow -over a mile in Imin 50seo Lord Fitzroy left a mile behind in lmin SOsec. Simoda did half a mile in 539ec. Dividend beat Bon Grafton over a mile in lmio 48sec. Ebullition, Blue Spec and Czarovitoh did half a mile in 53seo. Between £6,000 and £7,000 has been taken about Solution for the Caulfield Cup, down to 4 to 1. Poseidon retired to 6,t0 1, but has now recovered to sto 1; Czarovitoh, Melodeon and Miia 12 to 1; Simoda iB well-backed at 16 to 1; others are unaltered. Five to four has been taken about Poseidon for the Derby. The market has cleared for the Melbourne Cup, and Solution is now quoted at 7 to 2. £3,000 has •been secured about Poseidon at 8 to 1. Blue Spec and Dividend are •both in demand at 14 to 1. TURF NOTES. (By Zetland). The Wellington sprine meeting will open to-day, at Trent ham. Good average fields will be seen out in all events but the Flying in which there will probably be only four starters. The Wairarapa horses engaged to-day are Aboriginal, Declioatioa, Matakokiri, La Turpedo and Elevation, and they are sure to have plenty of followers in the betting. Considerable interest will be manifested in the running nf the New Zealand Cup candidates Boomerang, Zimmerman, Ghoorka, Flamen, Star Rose, La Torpedo, Martello, St. Joe and Landwern. The following are suggested as likely to run moet prominently in their engagements:— Ootober Hurdles—Pawa and Sardonyx. Shorts Handicap—Declination and Pink-'un. Rimutaka Handicap—Kuku and Intelligence. Wellington Handicap—Mystification and Zimmerman. Flying Handicap—De Witte and Contender. Wellesley Stakes—Elevation and 5 'Pearl Reef. Wainui Handicap—Exmoor and Aboriginal. Spring Handicap—Pink-'uu and -Lord Soult.
