MASTERTON TENNIS CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the members of the Maslerton Tennis Club was held last evening. Mr E. Rawson ocoupied the chair, and there were 11 other members present. The annual report, whioh has already been published in the Age, and the talanoe sheet, which showed the Club to be in a satisfactory financial position, were adopted on the motion of Mr G. (J. Summerell, seoouded by Mr J. Casel berg. The officers fot the ensuing year were eleoted as follow:—President, Rev. |Dean MoKenna; Vice Presidents, Messrs E. H. Waddihgton and W. P. James; Committee, Messrs D. K. logan, C. C. Cox, E. Rawson, D. Croft, and D. Caselberg; Hon. Auditor, Mr G. 0. Summerell; Hon. Treasurer, Mr J. Caselberg; Hon. Secretary, Mr N. D. Bunting. It was considered that the season was sufficiently advanced to allow of an early opening of the courts,'•and it was decided to have the courts ready for play on Thursday next, and that the formal opening be held on October 27tb. Miss Wolff j was|re-eleoted ladies secretary. j j* The Chairman considered that it would be advisable; to hold the Club tournament before Christmas this year in order to attraot more players at the courts, and allow the members to get into form for the championships, and in view of the possibility of some members, competing at the the championship meeting at the International Exhibition. On the motion of Mr Caselberg it was decided to commence the Club tournament in the second week in November in the form of handicap singles and handicap doubles. It was decided to reoommend the Committee to take into consideration the advisableness of introducing the "ladder" system. It was resolved that blackboards be procured so that players could put their names thereon and have first right to a specified court after the game in progress on that court is completed. It was also decided to number eaoh court. The Comirittee was directed to frame bylaws governing the letting of the oourts; also to fix a time limit for the use of the croquet court. A vote of thankp was passed the seoretary, the ladies' secretary and the retiring officers.
