COMMERCIAL.
Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Pnlmerston North etook sale as follows:—At Palmerston on Thursday wo had an average yarding of oattie, principally comprised of old cows, heifers, and rough aorta of young oattie. Buyers happened to be present for this nlass and we made a good clearance at recent quotations. Sheep were in shorter supply than usual. Bidding was not brisk, and several lines were passed at auction, but found buyers immediately after. Quotations: —Sheep—Fat wethers made 21s 6d, fat ewes 18s lOd, hoggets 14s 5d to 15a 6d, medium hoggets 10s 4d to 10a 6d, ewea and lambs 20s. Cattle— Forward bullocks £6 to £6 12s, 3yr and §yr bullocks £5 9s, heifers in calf £2 2s, yearling heifers 20s to 245, yearling steers 32a 6d, store cciwa 20s to 30a, weaners 8a to lis.
EKETAHUNA STOCK SALE.
MeHsrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their fortnightly sale at Eketahuna, yesterday, when there was a good entry of sheep, and a particularly heavy yarding of cattle. The attendance ot buyers was lnrge, and representative. Bidding for sheep was keen, and all lines found ready sale. Hoggets were well represented, selling from 103 to 15s Id, ewes with 100 per cent, lamjjs 19s. The demand for cattle was net particularly brisk jtnder the hammer, but excepting for a few dairy cows and heifers, a complete clearance was made subsequently. Three and 4-year-old bullocks sold from 90s to 100s, dairy heifers 57s Gd, empty heifers 30s to 36a 6d, yearling steers 40s, mixed yearlings 22a 6d to 2Cs, 2-year steers 40s to-455, springing cows to 80s.
