FORCASTING LOTTERIES.
■(Per Mail Steamer Sierra at Auckland.) NEW YORK, 10th September. A cable message to the newspaper Sun from Pelon says:—The chief of police of the inner city has given notice tnat all temples in which the practice of forecasting lotteries is followed will be destroyed in accordance with the teachings of Confucius unless the practice is stopped within ten days. The Tsniiae, who was head of the reform Commission, which visited the United Htat.cs last year, has addressed a memorial to the Dowager Empress, . expressing a desire that she remove the eunuchs wlio now exorcise so much influence in tbe palace.
