REGULATION OF BELLAMY'S BILL.
REJECTED BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, October 2., In the Legislative Oounoii, yesterday, the Hon. R. H. J. Reeves moved the second reading of the Regulation of Bellamy's Bill, providing that liquor may tie sold on any day or any time when either House is sitting, providing that no liquor is sold after one hour from the rising of the House of Representatives at any sitting and that no liquor shall be sold from 11 p.m. on Saturdays till 8 a.m. on Mondays. The Attorney-General opposed the - Bill, contending that it was unnecessary and maintaining that the present law was beneficial. The Hon. W. Beehan supported the measure, asserting that the Act was passed to conform with the outcry of the Temperance Party at the moment. The Hons. Thompson, Smith, Baldy, Jones, Jenkinson, and Marshall opposed, and the Hon. W. 0. F. Catncroes supported the Bill, ■which was eventually rejeoted by 32 votes to 10.
