ANTI-GAMBLING DEMONSTRATION.

By Telegraph-—Press Asooiation. AUCKLAND, September 29. At a well attended anti-gambling demonstration organised by the Y.M.O.A. speeohes were delivered by ministers and laymen. Tbo following resolutions were carried:—(l) "That the Postmaster-General be urged to discontinue tbe pracitoe of establishing telegraph and telephone offices on or near raceoourses during the holding of race meetings"; (2) "that it is aesirable that a more exact definition of the word 'place' be enacted for the purpose of suppressing butting as far as possible"; (3) "that m the interests of the young people of the colony this meeting considers it is of vital importance that legislation be introduced immediately havng the effect of makng gambling by means of the totalisator illegal, and of prohibiting, tbe publication of betting news."
