A FATAL FIRE.
By Telegraph—Press Association, AUCKLAND, September 28. A cottage belonging to the New Zealand Dairy Association, at Te Awauiutu, was deatroyed by fire on Thursday uigfct. The dwellioc was occupied by Mr H. H. Hntt, creamery manager, who is a married man with a family. Four children were burned to death, and the others had a narrow escape. The fire occurred about 10.15 p.m., the victims being four ohildren named— Ohorles Hutt, a«ed 13 years. Heotor Hutt, aged 6 years. Ethel Hntt, aged 5 years. William Hutt, agod 2 years. The family had retired early. About au hour later the oldest daughter gave au alarm of flro, which by this time had a strong hold of the old wooden building. Mr Hutt and his wife escaped with a baby, and four of the children followed. By this time a number of peoplp had arrived on the soene, and every effort was ruado to res Due the remaining four ohildren, but the flames and smoke beia# lso sti ong, all attempts to reach them were useless. About midnight the ..charred remains of the four children were discovered. There were nine children in the family.
