REPATRIATION OF CHINESE.
Received September S7, 8.46 a.m. PIETERMARITZBURG, Sept. 26. The steamey Cranley is leaving Durban with 483 Chinese, who have been repatriated on account of infirmity and disease. In Addition, the following have also been repatri ated:— ■ i! (At the end of lust year, tjje Transvaal Government admitted that there were 46,895 Chinese in the mines. Among these there had been 2,543 convictions, of whi-jb 1,994 were for breaches of the Labour Regulations. Nine bundled and twenty-one Chinese were then in gaol. An officer of the New Heriot mine, in repelling a Chinese attack on bis residence, killed one, wounded two and arrested seven.
