(To the Editor.) gi rj —l u reference to your report on the meeting of the Caledonian Society, on Saturday, the 15tb, will you kindly allow me to correct it. In regard to writing to Mr Hogg, asking him- to protest against the Government granting a subsidy towaris the Scottish Society's sports 1 which are to be held daring the Exhibition, on January Ist and 2nd, 1907, I did not understand that Mr Hogg was asked to stop the Government Bubfjidy, bat to endeavour to get the date altered so as to bring it in reach of all Caledonian Societies wishing to oompete in the contest.—l am, q£o., J. Hoge, M.H.R., be written to protesting against the Government subsidising the sports to be held by the Scottish Society of Now Zoaland at Christohurch, on January Ist and 2nd, 1907." It was suggested at the meeting that the Government might bo asked to try and induce the Christcburch Society to change the dates of their sports, but no resolution was passed to that efHeot. —Ed.
