LEGION OF FRONTIERSMEN.

Tbe following letter has been received by Dr Rupert Hosking from Mr Roger Pocock, the founder and honorary secretary of tbe Legion of Frontiersmen: — Dear Sir, —-The General Council, consisting of experts and representative frontiersmen, bave now settled the policy and scope of the Legion as eet out in tho accompanying pamphlet. We have bad a large correspondence with frontiersmen all over tbe world and bave secured tbe opinions of many hundreds of men representing every provinoe of the Empire. Tbe soheme, as now eet forth, embodies their views and we hope will meet with the widest possible support. Some months were devoted to finding out what sort of Legion would be most uaeful to His Majesty's Government. In this we bad tbe generous help of the officials of the War Office, and the pamphlet now sent to you is fully approved by the Secretary of State for War. Tbe Government has given us absolute liberty of action, so that we tire free to govern ourselves within the lines laid down. Your help is asked in enrolling good men, and in getting the Press to advertise the Legion. So far we are promised some 6,000 sabscribars, but there are, of course, many thousands more free and qualified to join. In all we expect to enrol about 30,000 effective men. As soon as possible, badges will be sent to all elected members, and Commissioners will be sent out to the varioas regions who will organise Commands and Councils of the Legion. As oar corps is to be raised and governed by frontiersmen, it is on work done by those who now receive this letter that the Legion will depend for its success. An application form is attached to the circular, which flhould be filled up and returned to me as soon as possible, with the amount of subscription according to the rating you desire. Your assistance in obtaining good recruits to the Legiou is earnestly requested.—Yours faithfully, ROGER POOOCK, Secretary.
