TURF NOTES. (By Zetland). The Wanganui mooting, which is one of the most important of the spring fixtures, will open to-day. Fair average fields will be seen out, and considerable, interest will be manifested in the running of the three' Hew Zealand Gup candidates —Martello, Flumen and Submarine. They are expected to be among the starters in tno Spring Handicap, of one mile. The Wauganui Guineas' race is snre to attract a large attendance, for the acceptors include some highly bred three year-olds. Loftus, Grand Slam and Tangimoana were winners last year, but they will meet good ones in Golden Cairn, Blazing Star, iSJosoow and Glen Gowrio. The following may run most prominently in their engagements:— Sprhg Handioap —Martello and Rustique. Maiden Hack—Blazing Star ani Waddy. Guineas—Sir G. OliO'ord's selected and Mosoow. Okeha Hurdles— Exmooi and Romany King. Hack Hurdles —• Ngataraa aud Oapnlet, Putiki Hack Avmamonto and Mataari. Flying Handioap—Medallist and St. Bill. Most of the training work at Opaki is now done in the early hours of the morning. The training tracks are in good order, and the course proper promises to be in first-Glass oondi tion for the spring meeting next month, i<esterday morning serviceable work was done by Letberin, Gipsy Joe, Narrow Escape, Scotch Keel, Sunbonnet, Lady Pet, Duleinea, Tangerine, R. Knox's team and two from K. J. Marr'g stable. Several others were worked later in the morning. Among the entrants for the 0.J.0. Stewards 1 Handioap are the Waira-rajpa-owned Aborginal and Declination. Both are being taken in doubles by many who consider they should make a good showing in the race. AVON DALE RACES.
