MASTERTON STOCK SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their fortnightly sale at the Mastertuu yards, yesterday, when there was a heavy yarding of cattle and also of sheep. Bidding was- in and out, hoggets and wethers being well competed for. The demand for cattle was not brisk, but considerable business was done privately. Iu sheep, praotjcally u complete clearance was made. . Hoggets sold from 14s 6d to 15s 3d, fa* aud forward ewes 16s to 17s, maiden ewes 17s 2d, fat and forward wethers 20s 6d, fat wethers 23s 6d, forward wethers 19s lOd, ewes in lamb 17s 6d, ewes and lambs 13s to lCs, cull ewes 9s 3d, store cows 28s, springing heifers 71s to 85s, 3-year forward steers 965, stores 80s, 2 V£-year steers 655, fat cows 65s to 105s, poor conditioned 2 year heifers 38s 6d, others 60s. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report as follows on their Masterton stock sale yesterday:—Sheep came forward in fair average numbers, the catalogue being ohiefly hoggets, only two pens of fats offering. For all good class hoggets competition was keen, and ready sales were made, but for seoond-olasß and oulls bidding lacked animation and business had to be done afterwards privately. Only one small lot failed to change hands. Fats sold under the hammer at sound rates. All olasses of oattle were submitted. Good sorts in stores, beef, and dairy lines sold freely, but bad coloured stores and aged cows wera almost unsaleable. Weaner pigs found a ready sale. Hoggets, best 16s, others 15s 3d, 15s, 14s lOd, 14s 6d, medium and poor 9s 6d to 12s; fat ewes, best 22s 6d, medium 18s 6d; fat oows £4 15s, stores 30s to 40s; yearling steers, 455; calves, 15s to 18s; dairy heifers, 60s; weaner pigs, I3s ld"to 18s. LONDON WOOL SALES. (By Telegraph—Special tojjthe Age). WELLINGTON, Sept. 26. Messrs Dalgety and Co.'s London office cables under date, September 25tb, as follows:—Wool sales opened with a fair seleotion. There is a large attendance of buyers, and competition is fairly animated. Merino wools are at par to 5 per cent, lower than tho closing rates of last series; greasy, 5 pev cent. Crossbred wools, prices unchanged. Medium and coarse orossbied wools, 5 per cent, lower. Scoured coarse crossbred and slipe wool, 5 to 10 per cent, lower.
