THE REBELLION. INSURGENTS OUTNUMBER PALMA'S FORGES. GUERILLA WARFARE THREATENED. Received September 22, 4.25 p.m. NEW FORK, September 22. Latest advices from Cuba state that the insurgeuts far outnumber President Palma'a foroes. The latter, however, are better armed and equipped than the insur gents, who strongly resist American intervention, ami threaten a prolonged guerilla warfare. Business people are practically unanimous that intervention alone can guarantee the restoration of order and preserve peace.

Mr Taft, the United States Secretary of War, has catled to President Roosevelt private reports from the interior, which declare that anarchy is almost universal iu Cuba, excepting on sections of the coast. J
The iusurgents fired on the American bluejackets when the latter were landing at Oienfuegos. The sailors retaliated, and tbe insurgents fled.
