SLY GROG-SELLING.

At the Tapanui Polioe Court, today, John Munto and James Robertson were charged with keeping for sale alcoholio liquor in the nolicense district of Olutha. Mr J. L. M. Fraser, Crown Prosecutor, said that Munro was a storekeeper at Kelso, and Robertson lived with and worked for him. A very systematic and somewhat extensive and exceedingly open trade of selling grog bad been carried on. A number of informations bad been laid against Munro and his wife, bat as Munro had pleaded guilty all except one charge would be withdrawn. Mr W. Sinclair, who appeared for accused, denied that an extensive business bad been carried on. When Munro purabased the business he did not think there would be any harm in keeping a supply of liquor and treating his customers occasionally when they paid accounts. He bad no idea of selling if, but he found when customers had a second nip they w.ould insist on paying for it. No liquor was supplied except to customers at the store. There was no profit to speak of. Mr Grucksbank, S.M., fined Munro £4O, and Robertson £lO with costs M 6s 2d. £
