MASTERTON A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL HORSE PARADE. The annual Horse Parade of the Mastertou A. and P. Association was held ou the ShuWgrounds, Mastertou, on Saturday aiteruoou, there being only a fair attendance of farmers and horse-breeders. Tbo parade commenced at half-past one, and I Mr G. K. Sykes, the secretary, had all arrangements well ia hand. At last year's purado tweuty-ono horsas were shown, but on the present oooasion only nine were on the ground. The thoroughbred eootioa was unrepresented. The horso9 shown included two trotters, two ooaohers, one pony, and four draughts. ' TROTTERS. , PIRATE. Of the trotters, Pirate, the property of Mr G. !-». Garratt, of Taueru, attracted a goo 3 deal of attention. He is by Childe Harold—Violetta, aud is a deep chestnut colour, standing 16 hands 1 inch high, with a good constitution and a splendid temper. His sire, Ohilda Harold, needs no comment, he fceiug one of the greatest trotting stallions out of America.' BOSTON (Mr S. Liddington, Taratahi) was also on the ground. COACHEES. I VAN HOE. was in splendid form, aud was greatly admired by all present. He is ft dark bay horse, with black points, standing 16>4 hands high, and is by Wioklow—Pocahontas. He is gnodtempered, possesses splendid bone ana has good action. Ivauhoe has been shown in many rings, and Jast year was placed first on six occasions. He stood for many years in Dunedio, and his stook hare always realised high prices. He will be at the service \ jof breeders at Masterton, Maurice- ) viUe, Eketahuna and Alfredton this season. Full particulars will be supplied by the owner, Mr J. .Tones, of Masterton. The only other entry was Arabian Knight tMr A. Y. Tapliu, Taratahi.) -- PONIES. KALIPHA. This class was represented by the Arab stallion, Kalipha, sire of Rajah and Abdul. In colour Kalipha is a beautiful bay, with black points, and stands over 14 hands. He is one of the best bred horses in the district, and is connected with raoiug stock that have frequently proved their <■ value on the racing track. Full particulars may be obtained from Messrs J. or E. Liddington, of Clareville. CLYDESDALES. i GARRY CWEN, the property of Mr Angus Praaer, of Masterton, wag looking in splendid condition. He is a beautiful bay, active, powerful and clean, and has the certificate of the Clydesdale Horse Society of Great Britain and Ireland. Garry Owen was bred by Mr 0. McNeil, Kinsealy House, County Dublin, inland, iu 1896. He is by Tully Allan—Sweet Lavender, and was brought from the South in 1905. Several of bis stook topped the market at one of the largest soles of draught horses ever held in Otago. » FEDERATION. Federation is a very superior, well-bred horse, and a true type of the Clydesdale breed, standing 17 hands He has a good list of champion prizes to his credit, and is the property of Mr J. Falloon, Ballanoe, who has decided to plaoe him at the services of Wairarapa breeders. BRILLIANT BOY. This purebred Clydesdale is ft brown oolt, now rising four years, a'ld is bj the well-known Clydesdale The Mackouzie—Kate. Brilliant Boy was bred by Mr liuakland, of Hoou Hay, Gbristchurch and shows excellent quality oombined with great power. He has splendid flat bone, and an abundance of silky hair of the class now so much sought for in horses in this class. Full particulars may be obtained from the owner, Mr R. Falloon, Masterton. LORD KITCHENER (Mr 0. Peroy) was also on the* ground.
