THE BANK RATE.
Received September 14, 9.6aa.m s LONDON, September 13. The bank rate has been fixed at 4 per ceut. Owing to the drain of gold for the United States and Egypt, it was feared that the rate would have been raised to i} 4 and possibly 5 per cent., but the pressure was relieved by the Bank of France undertaking to supply £3,000,000.
