WHIRLED TO DEATH.
• SLEEPING MAN BOUND TO A s REVOLVING SbiAFT. A remarkable tragedy hB9 occur red at Stateu lelaiid (U.S.A.), the wictlai being an oinployee at a plaster mill there. Seven Jtaliaoa and two Poles were engaged aa a night gang in the mixlog room, being allowed twenty minutes' rest at three o'clock in the morning for meal or sleep. Getzner, one of the Poles, was not popular with the Italians, and went to sleep. One or more of hia companions, tied him to a shaft making a hundred and niuety revolutions a minute, The unfortunate Pole was wbiiled to death, parts of hiß body with the rope being found. One Italian is missing and the others and the surviving Pole have been arrested. They say that they •-saw nothjng until they beard the outcry of the man being whirled along the shafting. Getzner'a wi'e and five ohildten were doe to arrive the following week from Poland.
