RANGITUMAU.

(Prom Uur Own Correspondent)

A plain and fancy dress ball was held in ; the Rangituniau Hall, on Thursday, and was a decided suecess. There were about 150 people present, inoludiug a number of visitors from Masterton and Opaki. Messrs T. .Keuible and N. MoLaohlan aot'id as M's.C, and Mr Fawoett supplied first-class "music. An excellent supper was provided by the ladies of Rangitumau, for which they were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Mr H. 0. Bertlesen's prize for the best fancy dress costume (ladies) was awaided to Miss M. Chamberlain. Amongst the other fancy costumes worn were the following:- Misses Bertlesen (Starlight), J. Brown (School Girl), MoDonald (Night), Kemble (Folly), 1. Welch (folly), P. MoLaohlan, (Grecian Lady), Wyeth (Nuise), A. Wyeth (Magpie), Tankersley (Van ity), B. Tankarsley (Granny), V. Petersen (Digger), Petersen (Country Girl), Manning (Grace Darling), Ramby Dancer), Blatohford (Hearts are Trumps), Colquhoun (Pierrettee), Hopkins (Spring), Campbell (Queen of Hearts), B. Harvy (Out of Date), Meedames W. Tankersley (Cook), P. Day (Gipsy), and Tait, and Messrs E. L. MoLaohlan (Huntsman), JR. Tankersley (Cricketer), N. Wyotb, P. MoLachlun and J. Campbell (Sailorß), T. Wyeth (Nigger), M. McLaoblan (Clown), T. MoLaohlan (Nigger), J. Barnes (Trooper), N. MoLaohlan (Jcokey).
