THE NEW GASHOLDER.
A TENDER AOOEPIED.
The question of a gasholder for the Masterton gasworks wis before the meeting of the Masterton Boroueh Counoil, last evening. A cablegram was read from Messrs Walker and Co., London, tendering the sum of £1,380 as a price for a standard guided gas-holder of a capacity of 70,000 cutio feet, c.i.f., Wellington. Cr Temple moved, and Or Hoar seconded, that the tender be accepted. Cr Ewington tools exception to the motion, as the time for receiving tenders within the colony for a gasholder had not yet closed. After some discussion Cr Temple altered his motion in the direction of amending tbe report of the Works Committee in order that a gasholder of a capacity of 70,000 feet could be obtained. The gas manager reported that the cost of tbe gasbrlder ereoted in Masterton would he about £2,500, or £2OO above the amount in the loan schedule. Cr Temple's motion was then carried, the voting being as follows —Ayes, Crs Pauling, Temple, Elliott, Hoar, McEwen and Feist; noes, Crs Morris, Eton and Ewington. Cr Ewington stated that he would give uotico in tha morning to iesoind the* resolution. On the motion of Cr Temple, seconded by Cr Hoar, it was decided to cable to Coward and Co., LondoD, the Council's agents, in the morning, to have the gnsholder forwarded at once.
