DUEL ON A CRUISER

ißeceived August 23, 12.42 a.m. BRISBANE, August 22. 'A telegram from Shanghai gives jome particulars of d duel aboard the Japanese cruiser Jfcsushima, between Commander Ishikawa and the engineer. The fight took place off Saigon. Commander ishikawa received twenty wounds, and was taken to the hospital, where he died. Kaiwai, the Chief Engineer, refused to oommifc harikare, alleging that his honour was involved.

THE ALLEGED CAUSE OP THE . QUARREL.

RECIPROCAL TREATY.

Received August 22, 10.3 a.m. SYDNEY, August 22. The Sydney Morning Herald predicts that tbfl Federal Parliament is not likely to do anything m the matter of the reciprocal treaty with New Zealand.
