ARBITRATION COURT AWARDS.

'. . AUCKLAND, August 16, The Hon. G. Fowlda, replying to a deputation from the Saddlers' Union, protesting against tbe awards of the Arbitration Court and alleging that the judge was nut of sympathy with workers, said they must recognise that it was a serious matter to interfere with the Court, whioh had been constituted to secure the very best and most impartial decisions possible- The President was a Judge of the Supreme Court. Supposing the workers got a President whom tbey considered to be in sympathy with them it would be a serious matter if the employers wished to have his decisions interfered jrith by th*> Government. He indicated that the Government could not interfere, but be promised to bring the representations made under tbe notice of tbe Minister of Labour.
