FOUND DROWNED.

CHKISTCHURCH, August 16. An elderly man named Albert Smith, butcher, at Addington, was found dead, this morning, in a creek at Hagley Park. He had been apparently drowned. He had a out on the inside of his head, and suspicions were aroused of foul play, bat the stony bottom might account for the injury. The deceased's watch stopped at 10 p.m., and all his mcney was intact. He was last seen alive at 9.30 p.m. last night. It is supposed that he fell iDto"tbe waier while infoxioated, and was drowned. An inquest ia to be held.
