THE WRECKED STEAMER SIRIO.
Received August 13, 8.50 a.m. LONDON, August 12. Additional survivors from' the Italian steamer . Sirio, which was wrecked last week in the Mediterranean, have been landed. It is officially stated that six hundred and three persons have been saved, and that two hundred and nineteen are missing. The catastrophe was due to the vessel approaching too near the coast in order to embark boatloads of emigrants who were evading the authorities. Many of them were escaping from military Bervioe.
