NIREAHA NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent). Friday. Mr Smith of Hawke's Bay intends starting r new sawmill at Atea. It all probability the mill will be a erected on Mr Smitb'a property where the timber has been pur> qhased. Ihe direotora of the Nireaha Cooperative Dairy Company oided to send next seasons' output Home. Mr A. W. Hogg, M.H.R., ias written to the Farmers' Union stating that he is using every possible endeavaur to get the Government to out up the Forest Reserve in not less than 50 to 60 acre sections. The roply liaa caused sieat satisfaction in the district and it is hoped that Mr Hogg will sucaeed in his efforts. Mr of the Feilding dißtrioc has leased Mr F. Tarr's property at Newtaan and has brought his own herd of cows ?ritb him. On Saturday last a football match was played at Nireaha between the Hukanui and Nireaha Clubs, which resulted in a drawn game eacn Hide sooring 3 points. On Tuesday last the family of the late Mrs Gardiner of Hukanui removed to Masterton. Regret is expressed at tbier departure aa they were highly respeoted and took great interest; in all local functions.
Quite a number of local properties have changed hands lately in this district. Mr Mitchell, who intends removing to Ashhurst, has disposed of his farm to Mr Harris of Ghrlstchurch. A farewell sooial will be tendered to Mr Nordell at an early date. Both Mr 0. Simth and Mr McOnie, who are at present in the Pahiatua hospital are making rapid strides towaids recovery. CJ. MoOcie is expeoted home in about a fortnight.
