AN EXPLANATION.
(To the Editor).' Sir,—lf you will allow rae space in your valuable paper, X would like to extend to the people of Masterton an explanation for our failure to show in full at the lown Hall, as advertised. Naturally, when I heard of the trouble that had oacurred I was muoh annoyed and immediately started an investigation, and give you the full particulars. I was in Wellington on the Monday previous to the opening date in Masteiton, ana shipped the dynamo io Masterton on the afternoon of Monday, surely thinking it [would not take over a few hours to land it safely there. .As an extra precaution 1 wrote to your Mr Hathaway and also to Mr Joe Arthur, doing all in my power to seouie a safe opening on advertised date. I now learn that the dynamo reached Masterton on the morning of Wednesday. JJlfc is a small affair, and took from 4 o'clook on Monday until 2 o'clock on Wednesday to reach Masterton from Wellington. I think the public of Masterton will, after this explanation, acquit the management of JEdisua'a .Popular Pictures of all blame. However, lam endeavouring to play a return season in your town, and feel thac you will appreciate my endeavours when you learn that 1 have alteied my whole tour to accomplish this. I am at present playing a two weeks' season in Uunedin after a very successful time in Ohristchurcb, and having booked the entire month of September in Sydney it is with some difficulty that I have arranged as • have. My first reason for giving Masterton people a true glimpse of these pictures Is to keep laith with them, and my second is that thoy can really see thuse wonderful pictures. Hence 1 am opening with you for two nights, and all.persons holding tickets that were given out od that night will be admitted willingly at either one of our performances, namely, August 9th and 10th.—I am, eto.,
FREDERICK ANDREWS. Manager of Edison's Popular Pictures. His Majesty's Theatre, Dunedin, July 28th, 1906.
