REMARKABLE DEMONSTRATIONS. i ■ ' WORRALL BEFORE THE BAR Ol<' THE HOUSE. Received August 1, 1.9 a.m. MELBOURNE, July 31. The departure from Bendigo of a special '•-"n conveying the Rev. Worrall ano 300 of bis supporters was the occaaiou of a remarkable demonstration. The streets were lined with spectators, and business for the time was practically sua pended. The Rev. Worrall was esoored by members of his churoh, carrying a flag, bearing the words, "Hold the Fort." They marched to the station, where several thousands had congregated. Appropriate hymns were sung, and prayers offered. % Qu the train there was scene of great enthusiasm. Similar scenes occurred at many stations en route to Melbourne. Several thousand people awaited the arrival of the train in the city. The party were greeted with cheering,'and the singing of "Onward Christian Soldiers." At the request of the Rev. Worrall no dwmonstration was made in the streets. The Minister drove guietly away in a cab. On his arrival at Parliament House, where a strong foroe of polbe were in attendance, another big crowd gave him an ova fcion. On appearing at the Bar of the House, the Rev. Worrall, in reply to the Speaker, admitted making the statements. He read at length a document supporting them. Mr T. Bent moved "that the Rev. Worrall is guilty of a breach of privilege in uttering a false, unchristian malicious libel upon the members of the House, and that he be severely censured." A lively debate is proceeding.
