LIMITATION OF ARMAMENTS.
Received "July 31, 8.41 a.m. LONDOftf, July 30. His Majesty King Edward, iu addressing the Soots Guards, the third battalion of which has been dispensed with under the new army scheme, made the following remark in the course of his speech:—"My Government, who oonsider it necessary to reduce the expenses of the Army." This has caused much comment, and it is inferred that His Majeety intends to disclaim -Ministerial action. "A NEST-EGG FOR OLD AGE PENSIONS." Received July 31, 9.30 a.m. LONDON, July 30. Mr Keir-Hardie, Labour member for Merthyr and Tydvil, speaking at Sheffield, said the Labour members would try and secure the two and ahalf millions saved from the navy as a "nest-egg for old age pensions." Le Temps and Sie"Je agree that Britain has decided! to reduce her Naval Estimates because rfhe is able to afford diminution, but France is unable to afford reduction.
