QUOITS.
OPAKI CLUB
Tho July oonipetiton of the Opaki Quoits Club was held a* Mr MeLebd's Mill on Saturday last, and though cold the weather was perfectly fine. The attendance of ladies waß particularly good, and great interest was taken in the match for Mr MoLeod's trophy, s which was eventually won by Miss J. Campbell, with Mrs T. Welch a good second. The men, seniors and juniors played a combined match, the reault being as follows:—11 Christensen 1, J. Nicholson 2, A. Chamberlain 3. The final round for Mr J. Campbell's trophy (first prize) and Mr J. Pringle's trophy (seoond prize) was played off, resulting in a win for H. Christensen, with A. Searle second. Afternoon tea was as usual served by the ladies, after which two trophies won at previous matohes were presented, viz., Mr J. Pain's trophy to Mrs 'ibomae, and Mr T. Wyeth's gold medal to Mi E . Petersen. Mr Nicholson,' captain of the club, made the presentations. Trophies were promised by. Miss Tankersley for competition amongst the married and single ladies for the biggest break during the present year. A hearty vote of thanks waß accorded to the donor, and al&o to the ladies for providing afternoon tea. The following is the first drawing for Mr D. McKenzie's our, the round to be played off by August 25th:—W. Tankersley 7 points plays Blewett 6 points, E. Harford 5 plays Thos. Wyetb, junr., 4, P. Stevensen 7 plajs 0. Petersen 7, R. Chamberlain owes 2, Nicholson owes 9 plays Christensen owes 14, J. Campbell owes 3 plays N. Wyeth 4, Searle oweo 12, plays B. Tankersley owes 4, H. Hunt owes 5 plays A. Petersen owes 1, J. Campbell, junr., 7 plays R. Campbell 7, J. Clune sor a bye.
