OBITUARY.
MR ALEXANDER BURNETT.
Mr Alexander Burnett, an old and respected resident of theMasterton district, died at nis residence in Cola Street on Thursday evening. Theg deceased had been in failing health for sometime past, the cause of death being consumption. The deceased was 63 years of age, and was a native of Banffshire (Scotland). Ho landed at Lyttelton in 1865, and was engaged in farming at Temuka for a number of years. Ho then removed to the North Island aud settled in the Wairarapa district. For some time he was engaged in the sawmilling industry. He was also licensee of the Taueru Hotel for a number of years. After giving up sawmilling he went iu for farming at Fernridge. 'lho late Mr Burnott was held in high esteem by the resi dents of the distrior. His wife died about 12 years ago. Two daughters are left to mourn their loss. The funeral will leave his late resi- [ deuce, at 2.30 p.m., to-day.
